Cover Photo

In social networking nowadays, profiles often have cover photos. A cover photo is basically like a preview. For a business that specializes in photography, their cover photo would be different shots of photography, usually featuring their best shots.

I've noticed on RV's FaceBook that their cover photo is currently based on a wedding. So, I figured that a way for RV to expand their business is to include a variety of different shots of different events. This will garner much interest for anyone who would come across the page.

This brings back to my research on photographic manipulation. When someone sees something, they believe what they see. So, if someone happens to come across RV's page, the first thing they would see is a cover photo that has just wedding pictures. It is true that RV's biggest events are usually weddings, but I figured that if they show pictures of different events, this would benefit them because people will think that they do more than just weddings.

Here is the first cover:
Three pictures are based on weddings, one is a couple, one is a baby, and one is a picture on the street.

I still kept the "wedding" feel because, like I said, weddings are their biggest events. They specialize in weddings.

This cover has a transparency effect over the photos, but note that "R.V. Visions Photography" is not transparent. I figured that the transparency effect will give it a more nostalgic feel. Isn't that what the goal of photos are? To give you a nostalgic feeling later? The writing is not transparent because it's actually the main focus. People will be observing the photos in this cover and may ask, "Oh, who took these again?" and they will see the business' name right there in the middle. It'll become stuck in their head and they'll remember it better. For me, I would remember it as, "What was the name of that business? The one with the collage of photos? Oh! R.V. Visions!"

It's clever, right?

I don't think this cover photo looks that great, but it's a start. I have to work on more still. It doesn't look like those collages you would see on Instagram.. You know, how a lot of photos are just crammed into one square box? That actually makes me cringe. It doesn't look nice and it makes me question if those people know how to make a collage.

I think in this cover, I may have used quite a few more photos than the amount that should be used. But hey, I'm learning!

Look forward to more later!
